Our Organization, Our Team, and the People We Serve

Hope For African Child Foundation began as a dream in the hearts of a small group of university students, looking to impact the poor and disempowered people of their home town. Rather than pursue their own careers in the city after school, they moved back to their village and formed an organization aimed at empowering women and children. Though their resources were limited, their dreams were large-scale and far-reaching, and before long, those dreams began to materialize right before their eyes.

Because HACF’s vision is to create social change and cultural transformation, we have decided to build a school which we hope will become the educational model all throughout Uganda. Our school will have a custom curriculum suited to meet the needs of our most vulnerable children – academic, physical, emotional, and spiritual.  And through our students, we will impact their parents and guardians, as well as the communities they come from.

Our first school will be located in rural Eastern Uganda, in the Jinja district.

Our Culture. Our Words. Our Message.

Our Team

Joel Biyinzika, Founder and Director, HACF

If anyone understands the power of education to transform lives, it’s Joel. Though Joel’s early years were marked by trauma and desperation, he found solace and hope at school. His education opened many doors for him, including a job in parliament which gave him connections and opportunities he never dreamed he would have.

Joel is passionate about breaking the cycles of dysfunction in his culture and bringing about social change. He believes the best way to do this is to focus on teaching children a new, healthier way to live and giving them the opportunities and skills to step into their full potential. Hope for African Child Foundation was birthed out of this desire and for this purpose.

Joel currently lives in Bujagali, in the Jinja district of Uganda. He loves travel and meeting new people, and is an avid reader.
